Sky Bravo’s Fantastical Showbus — Performer FAQ - Updated 5 December 2024
1. What’s Involved in the Shoot?
Format: We record 3-5 songs and corresponding short interview segments, aiming for ~15 minutes of broadcast-ready content.
Time Commitment:
Solo/Duet Acts: Typically 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Full Bands: Plan for 3–4 hours to include sound checks, filming, and interviews.
2. Where Do We Perform & Film?
Performance Location: Performances are filmed on the rooftop or in front of the Showbus for a unique, visually engaging outdoor setting.
Interview Setting: Interviews are conducted in front of or inside the bus, providing an intimate, behind-the-scenes feel.
3. Equipment & Technical Setup
Gear Provided: Basic sound reinforcement (mics, PA) is available; we’ll confirm any backline specifics in advance.
What to Bring: Please bring your own instruments and any specialty gear. If you have particular sound or setup requests, let us know beforehand so we can accommodate or advise as best as possible.
4. Logistics & Scheduling
Arrival & Parking: We’ll send detailed load-in and parking instructions once scheduled. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your call time for a smooth setup.
Weather Contingencies: If weather’s an issue, we’ll discuss backup plans/consider rescheduling.
5. Distribution & Airing
Broadcast: Your segment will air on local Public Access cable stations.
Online Platforms: Content may also be shared on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for additional exposure.
Web3 Integration (Optional): We release content for monetization on the blockchain. Participation in this aspect is optional but encouraged—if you have hesitations, we’re happy to discuss details.
6. NECAT Guidelines on Promotion & Language
Public Access Television prohibits direct sales, explicit endorsements, or direct financial “asks.”
Product Mentions: You can direct viewers to learn more at your website, but avoid phrases like “Buy now” or “This is the best product.” For example, “You can find more information about my album at [website]” is allowed. “Buy my album today!” is not.
Event Promotion: You can say where to find event details, but not “Get your tickets before they sell out!” Instead, try “You can find more information about our upcoming show at [website].”
Sponsors/Acknowledgments: You can thank a sponsor and provide their web address, but don’t say they’re the “best” or encourage purchases. “We’d like to thank [Sponsor]—learn more about them at [website]” is fine.
Donations/Fundraising: You can share where to learn more about supporting a cause, but not directly request donations. “If you’re interested in how to support our work, visit [website]” is allowed; “Please donate now!” is not.
Neutral Tone: Keep mentions informative and non-persuasive. Focus on giving viewers information rather than telling them what to do.
7. Permissions, Rights & Legalities
Release Forms: All artists must sign a release allowing broadcast and promotional use of recorded content.
Footage Usage: The Showbus team retains rights to broadcast and promote the footage. Artists clips for their own promotion—please discuss this with us.
Ownership & Royalties: Generally, usage is non-exclusive. If you have concerns, let’s address them before filming.
8. Editing & Post-Production
Final Cut: The Showbus team handles editing. Minor requests can be considered, but final decisions rest with the production team.
Air Date & Preview: We’ll provide an estimated broadcast/posting date. We can also share a preview link once the episode is finalized.
9. Promotion & Audience
On-Site Audience: Currently, this is a closed set focused on production. If you’d like to bring a small audience, inquire first.
Social Media & Tags: We’ll tag and credit you on social posts. Feel free to provide preferred handles and hashtags.
Your Promotion: We encourage you to share the final episode link on your platforms once it’s live.
10. Costs & Compensation
Fees: There’s no fee to perform. This is a collaborative opportunity for broadcast and digital exposure.
Merch & Branding: You may display branding (e.g., your guitar strap, shirt). Just remember the Public Access guidelines—inform viewers where to learn more rather than urging them to buy.
11. Web3 & Blockchain (Encouraged!)
NFT Integration: If we tokenize content, we’ll discuss any potential revenue-sharing or usage terms. Please check out the sample contract below.
Opt-In/Out: Participation in Web3 aspects is encouraged but not required. One goal of the show is to introduce artists to alternative revenue streams and new audiences.
Questions?
